One of the optional excursions we had to choose from on our first day was a bicycle tour through The Rocks (historical) district (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocks,_New_South_Wales). We thought this was a perfect way to get out and stretch our legs after a long day of traveling. We are so glad that we chose to do this because this was, without a doubt, one of the coolest things that either of us has ever done! We rode throughout The Rocks district and over and around the Sydney Bridge which was absolutely incredible!! (Unfortunately, though, you cannot stop at the top of the bridge to take pictures) We started out at the Sydney Observatory (http://www.sydneyobservatory.com.au/what/buildings.asp), which is the highest natural point in Sydney. In colonial times, it is where they were able to signal ships and get a view of any ships coming into the harbor from the Pacific. The views from the hill are amazing. We also rode past the Australian Prime Minister’s home called the Kirribilli House (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirribilli_House). At the end of the tour, we stopped off at a local pub and had a beer with our tour guide, Jon.
